2020 Pioneer Cabernet Sauvignon

In 1857 The Koning Willem II foundered on the rocks of the Limestone Coast, after parting with her anchor in a westerly gale. Ari Vandenberg was one of the nine survivors. As he looked back at the wreck that had almost claimed his life, he vowed to tame this wild land and make his mark upon it.
Winemaking
The ferment is allowed to warm naturally after yeast is added and then cooled to extract premium flavours and colour. Following fermentaiton the wine remains on skins until the tannins are subtle and soft, then matured on French Oak

PALATE
Intense dark berries followed by succulent tannins with a touch of vanillan oak. The wine is balanced with excellent power and persistence.
Aroma
Generous black and red fruit with layers of dark chocolate and toast oak.
Food match
Perfect with rich lamb shanks in rosemary infused gravy.
