In 1857 The Koning Willem II foundered on the rocks of the Limestone Coast, after parting with her anchor in a westerly gale. Ari Vandenberg was one of the nine survivors. As he looked back at the wreck that had almost claimed his life, he vowed to tame this wild land and make his mark upon it.

Winemaking
Fruit was harvested in the cool of the night before being crushed, de-stemmed and pressed to a settling tank Parcels were fermented on oak, some underwent MLF and others matured on oak all with extended lees contact to build depth and ranges of blending options

Pale straw with green gold highlights.
Ageing potential
A great wine to drink now, or to allow to mature and develop over 2-5 years

PALATE
Bright and medium bodied, the palate shows layered citrus and stone fruit flavours carried by a fresh acid line. Hints of vanilla, cashew and a touch of minerality add depth, leading to a smooth, balanced finish with good length.
Aroma
Citrus blossom, lemon and white stone fruit, with subtle notes of nougat and gentle French oak.
Food match
Prefect with grilled fish, roast chicken, creamy pasta and soft cheeses.
